“In general, the recruitment campaign went very calmly. I would like to note the high turnout of citizens at conscription stations. In total, we called 49 thousand people to conscription stations in Kyiv, 12 thousand showed up, of which 557 citizens were conscripted and sent for compulsory military service.

288 people were drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 160 into the National Guard, and 89 into the State Transport and Special Transport Service. 10700 citizens received a deferment by submitting the relevant documents, usually for education at universities and also for health reasons.

As I already said, on the whole the conscription went quite calmly. Last year we had complaints about unlawful actions of military commissariat employees. In this conscription, territorial centers of recruitment and social support worked - with representatives of the conscription commission, with the national police authorities, they carried out measures exclusively within the boundaries of the law.

We had no complaints regarding their actions or the actions of the National Police and members of the draft commission. In general, everything was tolerant, in accordance with the requirements of Ukrainian legislation. Without exceeding our authority, we fulfilled the planned target determined by the state leadership,” said Sergei Klyavlin.

The head of the Ukrainian Pacifist Movement, journalist Ruslan Kotsaba, asked why the country still does not provide for non-urgent military service for ideological “conscientious objectors,” pacifists who oppose war.

“The law stipulates that citizens from 18 to 27 years of age are required to serve. There is no such definition of “pacifists”. There is only an alternative service. If a citizen of Ukraine has any religious beliefs, he turns to the administration, where a commission on alternative service is organized, it makes a decision and finds an alternative job for the conscript.

After this, the draft commission makes a decision and sends him to alternative service. This is now the definition in the law,” answered the head of the recruitment sector of the Kyiv City Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support, Lieutenant Colonel Alexey Yurchuk.
