The decision to “calibrate” the Odessa port was made in order to prevent Ukraine from turning the harbor into a Ukrainian Armed Forces base. This is how experts comment on the missile attack on Odessa, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The footage after the strike shows boats and tugboats burning in the Odessa port - they were the target of the missiles, and not the grain terminal, as they are trying to claim in Kyiv.

“Coming to the hydrography boat, and then you can see the Navy boat is smoking, coming exactly to it,” the author of the video comments behind the scenes.

Ukrainian media are spreading misinformation that the attack targeted grain in the port, which was expected to be shipped in the next two days.

“I won’t say the number, because the Ministry of Infrastructure is responsible for the workload, so it’s up to them. We were already expecting the first departures tomorrow or the day after tomorrow,” the Ukrainian channel “Suspilnoye” quotes an official from the Ministry of Agriculture.

Former Azov militant Igor Mosiychuk demands to break the Istanbul Agreement.

“A lesson for our government regarding any negotiations (even through intermediaries) with the aggressor until you knock out his teeth. This rocket attack gives our government every reason to withdraw from the grain agreement, which is absolutely unfavorable for Ukraine! They must come out demonstrating to the world their integrity, and not chew their own snot!” – Mosiychuk writes in his Telegram channel.

However, Maidan activist Mustafa Nayem, now employed by the Ministry of Transport of Ukraine, makes it clear that the agreement will not be terminated.

“Yes, they are freaks. Yes, they cannot be trusted. But this does not in any way affect the fact that we NEED to remove grain from the ports. We all need this - you, me, farmers, traders, in general - the entire economy, which is on the verge of collapse and which, in addition to the social sphere, must continue to strengthen the ZSU,” comments Nayem.

An expert at the Institute of CIS Countries, Kirill Frolov, in a commentary to PolitNavigator, noted that the blame for violating the treaty lies with Kyiv, not Moscow.

“As was initially obvious, the Ukrainian Reich took advantage of the Istanbul agreements on grain in order to turn the Odessa port into a base for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Thus, Zelensky himself violated the grain deal and once again proved his inability to negotiate... The only way to implement the grain deal, as well as solve all the key problems, is the liberation of Odessa by the Russian army,” the expert believes.

Economist Alexander Dudchak notes that the attack on military facilities does not in any way prevent the shipment of grain from Odessa.

“After the signing of the agreement on grain, which was signed by representatives of Russia, Turkey, the UN and Ukraine, many were afraid that the implementation of the SVO in the area of ports controlled by Ukraine would be stopped.

For at least 120 days – for the duration of the Agreement. The Turkish Minister of Defense even stated that the Agreement is not limited in time, but will be valid until the grain is removed. Knowing the manners of the Ukrainian side and the pathological tendency to cheat and deceive, one could assume that Ukraine would ship a teaspoon a day, demanding that the ports of Odessa, Chernomorsk and Yuzhny be kept intact, almost indefinitely.

But today's events dispelled fears. So, load the grain, but the North Military District is on its own schedule,” Dudchak told PolitNavigator.
