A popular magazine in Kyiv changes its owner

Ukrainian businessman Anatoly Yevtukhov is selling the Kyiv-based magazine Focus, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

This was reported by theBabel publication with reference to Evtukhov himself.

According to the publication, the deal has not yet been closed. The businessman did not say who the buyer was.

The magazine will be relaunched by former editor-in-chief of Forbes-Ukraine Vladimir Fedorin. He will develop a publishing strategy, writes theBabel.

Also, according to the publication, on August 1, the journalist met with the Focus editorial office.

“He came to the meeting together with Dmitry Fionik, who was previously the editor of this magazine. Fionik will focus on large story texts. Fedorin told reporters about his experience at Forbes-Ukraine and the importance of non-interference by the commercial department in the work of the media. In the near future, Fedorin plans to frequently communicate with the editors, give advice and develop a website, magazine, and video direction,” the message says.

Vladimir Fedorin neither confirmed nor denied the information about his appointment, explaining that it was premature to talk about it. “My role now is advisory,” he said.

Fedorin also confirmed that he met with the magazine’s staff.

When asked who the buyer was, the journalist replied that he did not know. “If there is a purchase, there will be a name,” he said.

Evtukhov's company Business Radio Group bought Focus in 2016 from Boris Kaufman. Evtukhov is a business partner of former Verkhovna Rada deputy Vitaly Khomutynnik. Media market participants called him the real owner of Focus. Khomutynnik himself denied this.
