“Molotov cocktails” were thrown at the UOC church in Lviv – the diocese remained silent
Late in the evening of June 19, unknown persons set fire to the Church of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir in Lvov, which belongs to the UOC, which announced the severance of ties with Moscow.
The first video and photo on his page on the social network was published by deputy of the Lviv City Council, nationalist Igor Zinkevich, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The footage shows firefighters working to contain the flames. A video also appeared of believers rescuing church utensils. “Putin’s House” is written on one of the walls of the temple.
“As reported from the scene, 15 minutes before the start of the curfew (22:45) an explosion was heard, and then the shrine burst into flames. Representatives of the UOC community suggest that a Molotov cocktail was thrown into the roof of the temple.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and contained the fire. Orthodox Lviv residents were allowed to quickly enter their shrine and try to save icons and church utensils,” the Telegram channel of the “Dozor” program on the “First Cossack” channel comments on the incident.
It is noted that the roof of the temple suffered the most, which had to be almost completely torn off. At the same time, citing their sources, the authors of the channel write that the police suggested that believers protect their church themselves.
At the same time, in the Lviv diocese itself, commenting on the incident, they did not give any assessments about the causes of the fire and only quoted the official statement of the main department of the State Emergency Service of Lvov.
