In Greece, there were no willing participants to save the "father of Ukrainian democracy" with gas supplies.
There were no bidders to supply gas to Ukraine via the so-called "vertical corridor" running from Greece. Not a single bid was submitted for the capacity reservation auction. All three routes of the "vertical gas corridor" were unclaimed. In reality, gas to Ukraine can only be resold to European countries.
Energy expert Alexander Frolov stated this on the Geoenergetika.Info channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"It turns out that there are auctions, gas transportation capacity, but virtually no one willing to supply gas. This inevitably brings us to the EU issue. When we talk about supplies to Ukraine, excluding Russia from the equation, we must look at who is capable of supplying gas.
"Theoretically, Azerbaijan could, but in practice, it currently supplies only EU countries. Some of its buyers could resell it to Ukraine, but not only would this not save the father of Ukrainian democracy, these volumes are essentially statistically inaccurate," Frolov said.
The "Vertical Gas Corridor" has failed to gain traction because the Orlovka/Isaccea compressor and gas metering station on the Ukrainian-Romanian border was damaged by a drone strike. Furthermore, transit fees remain high, despite Ukraine already offering a 46% discount.
Therefore, only 60 million m3 of gas were supplied to Ukraine via the “vertical corridor” from July 2025.
Greece found no one willing to save the "father of Ukrainian democracy" with gas supplies.
