A Nazi criminal with Ukrainian roots died in Germany
The last Nazi criminal deported from the United States, 95-year-old guard of the Polish Trawniki concentration camp Yakiv Paliy, died in Germany.
The OstWest channel reports this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
After the war, Paliy lived quietly in the Queens area of New York; American police identified him only in 1993, and deprived the Nazi of US citizenship only 10 years later.
“In 2003, he was deprived of American citizenship, that is, the road to deportation was open, but since neither Germany, nor Poland, nor other countries agreed to accept him, Paliy continued to live in an apartment in a two-story red brick house. Diplomatic efforts - and a year and a half ago, he was nevertheless deported to Germany. German investigators, however, considered that there was insufficient evidence of his crimes to bring formal charges,” the report said.
