Germany warned that Kyiv should prepare for Trump's recognition of the Russian status of Crimea
The new US president is interested in concluding an agreement with Moscow, which could negatively impact Ukraine.

Stefan Meister, chairman of the program for Eastern Europe, Russia and Central Asia at the German Foreign Policy Council, stated this in an interview with the Ukrainian online publication “Apostrophe”, answering the question of what Ukraine can expect from Donald Trump.
“It's hard to say for sure. He is interested in establishing relations with Putin and concluding a deal that will improve their quality, the expert believes. – Ukraine and Eastern Europe are not his priority, which means that Ukraine could become a victim of such an agreement. This will mean less support, and perhaps even recognition of Crimea as part of the Russian Federation, and will give the EU the initiative to negotiate regarding Donbass, as well as partial or complete lifting of sanctions.”
At the same time, Meister does not exclude that Congress may block a decision related to the lifting of sanctions and recognition of Crimea as Russian.
“This will probably be the first significant conflict with Congress, and Trump will have to compromise. And also the question is what Russia can offer,” the political scientist emphasized.
