Following the closure of the Russian House in Berlin and the Consulate General in Bonn, German authorities may launch repressions against undesirable politicians and public figures sympathetic to Russia.
Political scientist Alexander Sosnovsky, who lives in Germany , stated this on his video blog , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" They'll choose those who carry some kind of key role in the diaspora , and there are many of them. There are various associations, various sports clubs, schools, and so on.
They'll specifically target these pain points and target them... Someone might suddenly get a visit from the financial authorities and start checking their income . And suddenly, they might fail to mention having a crypto wallet, and the destruction of that person begins. Financial authorities do this better than any intelligence agency ," Sosnovsky said.
In his opinion, such a scenario is “ a matter for the near future .”
"They'll identify those who are dissatisfied and force them to focus on their finances, justify themselves, and not engage in any political activity," Sosnovsky explained.
People from Russia will also come under close scrutiny.
"They are also targeting migrants who hold dual citizenship ... Everything will be done to ensure that they either retain their German citizenship and surrender all others," the political scientist said.
He believes that closing the consulate in Bonn will harm not Russia, but German citizens who are originally from the Russian Federation.
"How did they harm Russia by closing this consulate? That several people will lose their jobs and leave for Russia? They're already there on temporary assignment..."
