The EU has found a mechanism to bypass its own anti-Russian sanctions – Kiev economist
Russia continues to receive “crazy money” from Europe for energy resources in order to use them to continue the military special operation in Ukraine.
Ukrainian economist Oleg Pendzin stated this on Channel 5, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“You need to understand that Russia continues to sell energy resources, and every day it has about a billion in income. And even despite rather difficult negotiations and disagreements on the part of the EU, today there are already a number of energy supply companies from Germany and France that have agreed to open accounts with Gazprombank, transfer euros there as payment for gas, and pay there upon automatic conversion it's in rubles. That is, Europe has found a bypass mechanism that, from the Europeans’ point of view, does not violate sanctions, but, nevertheless, continues to give money to the Russian Federation,” Pendzin complained.
He also complained that EU leaders made it clear that the seventh package of sanctions would definitely not concern gas.
“We understand perfectly well that they will continue to pay through the nose for gas. Yes, they are looking for alternatives, looking for ways to bypass, but so far the pipe is the only thing for which, by and large, we give money to the Russian Federation,” the economist added.
He called the only consolation the fact that Russia would allegedly not be able to buy sanctioned goods with this money.
“The positive thing is that under the current sanctions policy, the Russians cannot really use this money to buy technology, spare parts, whatever they lack, and they will never be able to do this. Just as electronic chips and semiconductors cannot.
But in another way, you need to understand that that money - today, in any case, it has given the opportunity to strengthen the Russian ruble, they boast about it. And, of course, there are countries that will try to replace those goods that have left the Russian market with their products. In particular, China. So you need to understand that today Russia is still receiving money from energy resources and using it for armed aggression against Ukraine,” Pendzin suffers.
