“In order to resolve the crisis situation that has developed in the area of ​​the Donetsk international airport, measures are being taken by the joint center for control and coordination of ceasefire issues. This morning, the leaders of the joint center of the Ukrainian and Russian sides left for the indicated area. The Ukrainian side is represented by Lieutenant General Vladimir Askarov, the Russian side is represented by Lieutenant General Alexander Lentsov,” according to the ATO headquarters.

As noted, the purpose of the trip is to stop the assault on a strategic facility and reduce tension on both sides. According to Ukrainian security forces, as of 13:00, 11 cases of shelling of the Donetsk airport were recorded. In addition, the ATO headquarters states that Russian special forces are participating in the assault on the Donetsk airport.

As PolitNavigator reported, media outlets previously reported that Ukrainian troops blew up the old airport terminal and retreated . The ATO headquarters denied this information.

Negotiations to end the assault on the airport are underway in Donetsk, according to the ATO headquarters.
