This opinion was expressed in a conversation with a PolitNavigator correspondent by the official representative of the DPR in Finland, Doctor of Social and Political Sciences, Associate Professor of Criminology and Sociology of Law, international observer of the primaries in the DPR Johan Beckman.
“Through primaries, government authorities give the people the opportunity to strengthen the country’s democracy, create the necessary election bodies, and present candidates for important positions,” the observer emphasized. – In Donetsk, for example, there are currently more than 500 mandates in local government bodies. I believe that the primaries in the DPR are an exemplary event that can be a good example for many other countries. Preliminary voting in primaries is the activation of the public, voters, and candidates in order to strengthen democratic processes.”
“Preparations for the primaries are going well,” he added. “I had the honor of observing the process for several months. It can be noted that people are taking part in the process en masse. The VRIC has been created, which actively works and makes decisions. The preparations are carried out as transparently as possible - absolutely everything is covered in the local media.”
The agency's interlocutor also drew attention to Ukraine's reaction.
“She has no right to comment on the primaries at all, because... “This is a public, independent, internal process that is determined and controlled exclusively by the local legislation of the DPR,” Bekman believes. – I have never seen any official protests from Ukraine specifically regarding the preliminary vote, but they do not stop trying to stop all processes of normalizing the situation in the DPR. Otherwise, I cannot explain why every night the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to fire at residential areas and civilians of the Republic. This behavior clearly reflects the position of the pro-Nazi authorities of Ukraine in relation to building democracy in Donbass.”
