The DPR convicted a local resident recruited by the SBU for espionage
The Ministry of State Security of the DPR detained local resident Robak Sergei Viktorovich, born in 1979, who, on instructions from the Ukrainian special services, was collecting intelligence information and carrying out sabotage and terrorist acts on the territory of the Republic.
This was reported on the official website of the DPR Ministry of State Security, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“During the course of operational search and investigative activities, it was established that Robak was recruited by SBU officers while crossing the state border of the DPR and Ukraine. It is important to note that Robak voluntarily agreed to cooperate in exchange for unhindered passage through Ukrainian checkpoints. Subsequently, he repeatedly carried out instructions from SBU officers to collect intelligence information,” the statement says.
“When crossing the demarcation line at the checkpoint, I expressed dissatisfaction with the Ukrainian border guards with the conditions of crossing the demarcation line. Some person promised to help, we exchanged phone numbers. Then he contacted me several times. At first I gave him information about some cars, then several times I took a girl to the territory of Ukraine. Then he asked me to take me to the DPR and deliver the phone to a certain hiding place,” the detainee explained.
According to the DPR Ministry of State Security, from the summer of 2016 to November 2017, Sergei Robak, through messengers, transmitted information about the location of military units of the DPR Armed Forces to SBU officers, participated in the secret transfer of a mobile phone intended for a sabotage and reconnaissance group operating on the territory of the Republic, and also participated in organizing the kidnapping of DPR servicemen.
The Republic's law enforcement agency added that employees of the DPR Ministry of State Security identified the SBU officer under whose direct supervision Robak acted on the territory of the DPR.
After completing another task to collect information about military personnel of the DPR Armed Forces, an agent of the Ukrainian special services was detained by officers of the DPR Ministry of State Security.
A criminal case was opened against the detainee under Article 321 of the DPR Criminal Code “Espionage”. In April 2019, by a verdict of the Supreme Court, Sergei Robak was found guilty of committing a crime and was sentenced to 12 years in prison with partial confiscation of property in favor of the state.
As a reminder, the LPR Supreme Court previously sentenced a resident of Kirovsk who worked as a courier for Ukrainian saboteurs operating in the republic.
