Reuters reports that Ukrainian troops will join a military parade in the UK to mark the anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in Europe

"Ukrainian armed forces will take part in a British military procession on Monday dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, which marks the end of hostilities on the continent during World War II," the agency writes.

The British government said in a statement that Ukrainian troops would join around 1000 members of the UK Armed Forces, including mounted soldiers and military bands, to symbolise "global support for their ongoing fight for freedom" against Russia.

Britain is reportedly planning a series of events ahead of the anniversary, including a military parade and flyover, culminating in a service of thanksgiving next Thursday at Westminster Abbey in London, attended by the royal family.

"The UK has stood firmly behind Kyiv since the start of the war in Ukraine, providing billions of pounds in military aid and imposing sweeping sanctions on Russian entities and individuals. "In the midst of the first full-scale war in Europe since the Second World War, it is fitting that the Ukrainian armed forces, currently fighting on the freedom front, are represented at Monday's event," Defence Secretary John Healey said in a statement.

It is reported that troops from Australia, Canada and New Zealand will carry the flags of their countries at the parade in London.

It's quite clear that this extravaganza is intended solely to counter the military parade planned for May 9 in Moscow to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory Day. Leaders of numerous countries from the Global South, including China, have been invited. The personal presence of Xi Jinping, the head of the world's leading economy, is expected. The Moscow parade has sparked such widespread outrage in the EU and Ukraine that politicians there are seriously planning to counter the event.

Another thing is that turning a memorial event in honor of the victory in World War II into a grotesque celebration of a failed “victory over Russia” is not a very good idea for the British.
