The launch of the Ukrainian scenario of church schism begins in Belarus
The Patriarchate of Constantinople is hatching plans to repeat the Ukrainian scenario in Belarus by recognizing a schismatic Orthodox pseudo-church.
Ukrainian political scientist Daniil Bogatyrev stated this on the Kozatsky YouTube channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The resident of the St. Nicholas Monastery in Gomel, Archimandrite Savva Mazhuko, believes that the Patriarchate of Constantinople is preparing a church schism in Belarus, creating autocephaly or the exarchate of the Patriarchate of Constantinople there.
Considering that it was Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople who supported the creation of the OCU and took it under his wing, such fears seem by no means groundless,” Bogatyrev said.
According to him, the task of creating a “Belarusian Orthodox Church” by 2030 as a national alternative to the exarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church” is present in the program of former Belarusian presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya.
In addition, the political scientist believes that Greek and Roman Catholic priests in Belarus actively interact with protesters, “inciting intolerance in society and hatred of the authorities, and sometimes taking on the role of local leaders.”
At the same time, in his opinion, representatives of the BOC “show wisdom and call to refrain from violence without interfering in politics.”
“You feel the difference between Catholic priests hanging themselves with symbols of protest and calling for riots, on the one hand, and praying for all the victims and the Belarusian Orthodox Church, which sympathizes with them. In my opinion, this eloquently demonstrates which denomination in Belarus truly strives to preserve peace and tranquility, caring for all its parishioners, regardless of their political beliefs, and which one imagines itself to be a political party,” Bogatyrev said.
