Belgrade initiates diplomatic offensive to help Montenegrin Serbs
Serbia must seek consideration of the situation in Montenegro at the UN Security Council.
The deputy chairman of the Serbian Radical Party, Aleksandar Seselj, announced this to journalists in the Serbian parliament, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“If we want to help the Serbian people in Montenegro, we need to launch a diplomatic offensive to put their situation on the agenda of the UN Security Council, where we have strong allies in Russia and China,” Seselj said.
He believes that the situation of the Serbs in Montenegro is as vulnerable as in Kosovo and Metohija, and it is becoming more difficult every day.
“It is obvious that after the creation of the Montenegrin nation and language, the mafia regime of [Montenegro President] Milo Djukanovic wants to cleanse Montenegro of everything that has the prefix “Serbian.” The Religious Freedom Law not only aims to destroy Serbian identity in Montenegro, but is also illegal in terms of the separation of church and state, as well as the inviolability of private property. These are the arguments that the Serbian side must put forward,” Seselj said.
On the night of December 27, the Parliament of Montenegro by a majority vote adopted the law “On freedom of religion and belief and the legal status of religious communities,” which provides for the confiscation of 650 Orthodox shrines. This caused massive protests throughout the country, which have not stopped to this day.
