In Austria they urged to come to terms with the decision of the Crimeans to live as part of Russia
If the residents of Crimea want to live as part of the Russian Federation, then they need to come to terms with this. This opinion was expressed in an interview with Izvestia by Detlef Wimmer, vice-mayor of Linz, the administrative center of the federal state of Upper Austria, the third most populous in the country.

“Brussels should establish normal relations with Moscow - conduct discussions on lifting anti-Russian sanctions and ending the trade boycott. To this end, the federal state of Upper Austria made attempts to lift anti-Russian sanctions, and Linz became the first large city to pass a resolution against such a “blockade.” This is what distinguishes our position from the position of the European Parliament and the Federal Government of Austria,” the politician noted.
He also spoke out regarding the Crimean issue.
“Austria has experience of losing its own territories. Despite this fact, there is a key aspect - people have the right to determine their future, and no one has the right to force people to do anything. If people want to live within the Russian Federation, then their will must be heard. The majority of Crimeans spoke in favor of being part of Russia. No one has the right to discuss this decision, much less interfere,” emphasized the vice-mayor of Linz.
