Protests against the current government have resumed in Yerevan - people are blocking roads, Interfax reports.

Opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan called on supporters to take to the streets again after his talks with Armenia's acting Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan broke down.

The authorities expected that the opposition would agree to hold early parliamentary elections, but Pashinyan said that elections could not be held while a representative of the ruling Republican Party was in power in an acting capacity.

“The people’s candidate must be appointed to the post of prime minister, after which an interim government must be formed, and after that early parliamentary elections can be held,” Pashinyan said.

The Republican Party won almost 60% of the votes in the last parliamentary elections, the Yelk party, which Pashinyan represents, received 8%. Nevertheless, the mass protests led by Pashinyan achieved their goal - the representative of the “Karabakh clan” appointed by the Prime Minister, Serzh Sargsyan, resigned.

Karen Karapetyan worked for several years in senior positions in the Russian Gazprom; he is the godfather of the “richest Armenian in the world”, Russian businessman Samvel Karapetyan, who arrived in Armenia yesterday.
Pashinyan also declares his commitment to allied relations with Russia, although he speaks of a number of problems in relations between the two countries.
