The successful counterattack of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kupyansk is by no means a sign of a turning point on the front.
This was stated by liberal military expert Valery Shiryaev, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"What's happening now in Kupyansk—the undoubted success of the Ukrainian counterattacks—demonstrates that Ukrainian troops are still capable of executing a corps operation with up to 20 troops in a chosen direction, a chosen area, and within a specific timeframe. That's it, they can't do more. Two directions—they can't. An offensive is completely out of the question ," Shiryaev stated.
He believes that “ the Russian army still holds the strategic initiative – constantly applying pressure everywhere.”
Shiryaev believes that Ukrainians' relations with the Trump administration could not have failed to have an impact.
"The most important process this year is the election of President Trump. American policy has completely shifted away from full, unconditional support for the Zelenskyy government and the Ukrainian army. It's disappearing . And the further it goes, the worse it gets ."
The moment has come when Ukrainian politicians can hardly call America their ally... That is, to have assumed in advance, back when the requirement to join NATO was added to the Constitution, that allied relations without an alliance treaty were, of course, a huge risk ."
