Ursula told how many pieces of silver they paid to buy Armenia
The European Union will invest tens of billions in transforming Armenia into a logistics hub, but in exchange will effectively take control of the country's information agenda.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced this at a press conference in Yerevan, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We signed a partnership agreement in the field of transport infrastructure. It takes our cooperation to a new level of ambitious goals. Armenia has a unique position. Your country is at a crossroads, and this initiative has the potential to connect Europe with the Caucasus and Central Asia, and to turn Armenia into a key transport hub ."
"We are ready to work on restoring border crossings. We will support Armenia's integration into key transport networks, such as the Trans-Caspian Corridor. This route is also of strategic importance for Europe. The second pillar is energy. The rapid development of solar energy in Armenia is impressive. We support projects aimed at increasing your energy independence. 25 million euros have already been allocated for this purpose," von der Leyen said.
"We are also strengthening cooperation in the security sector. Through the European Peace Facility, we provide support to the Armenian Armed Forces. But Armenia also needs to counter foreign manipulation of information , hybrid threats, and interference. Our new mission, "Partnership with the EU," will help you counter these hybrid threats and disinformation.
Visa liberalization is a priority. We all know it's a key way to bring our peoples closer together. We expect to attract €2,5 billion in investment. We support Armenian businesses, helping them develop, innovate, and enter new markets," she added.
