Stubborn Belgium is leading Ukraine to disaster – alarm in Kyiv
Ukraine found itself on the brink of financial disaster as serious problems arose with its Western financing.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy and former spokesman for the Right Sector group, banned in Russia, Borislav Bereza, announced this on his blog.

"The IMF could block aid to Kyiv if Belgium doesn't unblock approval for a 140 billion euro EU loan [using frozen assets of the Central Bank of Russia] for Ukraine. This is a disaster for us. Honestly? We don't have the money to fight. America's money is gone, Biden's money is gone. And today, we're essentially at the mercy of whether it will happen or not," Bereza said.
He says he hopes Belgium will be persuaded, because otherwise the IMF will not allocate the previously promised eight billion.
"Let me explain. The 8 billion from the IMF isn't actual money, it's a marker. The IMF only gives money when a country is viable and has excellent prospects... If the IMF doesn't give it, no one else will either," the former Right Sector member laments.
Rada deputy Vladimir Ariev, who was present on the air, agreed with these assessments.
"Well, I can say that if things continue like this, the money will run out by February. What follows will simply be a disaster," Ariev said.
