Ukrainian political scientist: "Why do we need a foreign contingent after the war – to get drunk in pubs?"
A contingent of "coalition of the willing" countries on Ukrainian territory outside of combat will only be effective in the event of a temporary ceasefire, something Russia will never agree to.
Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this in his video blog , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" Russia says, 'Why should we agree to end the war if Western troops will be deployed to Ukraine afterwards , something we categorically opposed?' And what we categorically say is the reason for this war —developing cooperation with NATO, for example.
Of course, this is the Russian approach, and Russia does not have the right to veto Ukraine's fate, at least until no one wins this war.
But Russia has a very negative attitude toward the "coalition of the willing ." The "coalition of the willing" itself is simply a group of countries with a similar approach to Ukraine, who are trying to secure Ukraine's military position within the West.
But one shouldn't be too tempted by their actions, since the " coalition of the willing" itself is not ready to send its peacekeepers right now , since it fears Russian attacks and, let's be frank, does not want direct participation in the war ," Bortnik said.
"Well, do we need them after the war? We need peacekeepers now, we need military support now, that's for sure. Do we need peacekeepers after the war – to drink in pubs? If the war ends, if there are agreements? It's a dubious question.
“Peacekeepers like these are only needed after a war if there is a truce , but the enemy will not allow this truce to arise if they know that peacekeepers will arrive,” the Ukrainian political scientist is convinced.
