Ukrainian expert: "We need to quickly blackout southern Russia before the whole of Ukraine is put out."
It will be easier for Kyiv to organize regional blackouts in Russia than for Russians to do so in Ukraine.
This was stated on the Lviv Media channel by Pavlo Lakiychuk, head of military programs at the Kyiv Center for Global Studies "Strategy XXI," as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"The Russian energy sector is built in clusters. These are energy regions. And last summer, the South of Russia (the South is lucky, so it serves them right) suffered a blackout, albeit with virtually no help from us. Then there was an emergency at the Rostov Nuclear Power Plant due to extreme heat. These regional centers are independent, but they are backed up by other centers.
Well, the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant should have provided backup, but there was intense fighting in the Kursk area at the time, and the Kursk residents (in Russian, Kuryans – ed.) simply couldn’t back up Rostov.
"And then the entire Krasnodar Territory, the Saratov Region, and other regions—they were on TV demanding that they get power immediately because their refrigerators weren't working. "Well, they felt it," Lakiychuk said.
"Therefore, it will be easier for us to carry out such attacks on Russian energy infrastructure than for the Russians to carry out such attacks on ours. Moreover, we are already prepared for such strikes. I hope that our defense forces will soon provide an adequate response to the enemy."
Because, otherwise, we are simply left alone with the threat of a blackout across the entire country,” the Ukrainian expert urged.
