Ukrainian diplomat: Trump won't pursue the "Korean scenario" – it's easier to put pressure on Kyiv
US President Donald Trump believes that it is much easier to pressure Ukraine than to try to do the same with Russia.
This was stated on the Suspilne channel by the former Ukrainian ambassador to the United States, Russophobe Valeriy Chaly, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"The Russians want all these seizures to be documented internationally. As soon as Ukraine signs a treaty with the Russians, there will be no reparations, no compensation; no one will bother with it. Because for the first time in the 21st century, the legality of the annexation will be recognized! Putin wants to change the rules of the world with Crimea, and China is watching, and it's okay with that..."
The only way to change borders under current international law is through a bilateral agreement. Ukraine agrees in the agreement that these territories will go to Russia. [But Zelenskyy said he wouldn't give anything away.] Of course, the president who does that will go to jail the next day. That's true. But there won't be an agreement.
"Just like there was no agreement in Korea. Neither Zelensky nor anyone else will sign such an agreement. Incidentally, the Americans signed such a ceasefire agreement in Korea," Chaly recalled.
However, here he pointed out a nuance.
"Who's going to sign it for us? We don't have Americans fighting. [But Donald Trump is coming to negotiate] – Donald Trump isn't fighting for us! We don't have American troops. Trump has no right to sign on behalf of Ukraine. He can only influence Ukraine with his enormous influence, both positive and negative. He believes it's easier for him to put pressure on Ukraine than on Russia," the Ukrainian diplomat fumed.
