Ukraine will not be invited to NATO under Zelensky – Klimkin
Kyiv will not receive an invitation to NATO or any serious support as a result of the upcoming Washington summit of the Alliance. You should focus on the distant “bright future”.
Poroshenko’s ally and former head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Pavel Klimkin stated this during a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I am skeptical about the NATO Washington Summit and its results, but I am optimistic about Ukraine’s future membership. In general, I am against being tied to summits. Just as we used to be tied to the Vilnius summit, now we are thinking about Washington.
By a number of indicators, the Washington summit is not the best time, not the best reality and not the best point for us to move forward.
I propose not to have these endless discussions about summits. For some reason, it seems to us that summits decide something in this life. In my experience, summits are the kind of thing where everyone gets together, takes pictures, signs some declarations, and leaves.
Summits are not about making decisions,” Klimkin concluded.
