Ukraine has become a nightmare, and not the promised land, as they promised on the Maidan, writes the former head of the National Bank of Ukraine and former Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Arbuzov in Izvestia.

“This year was perhaps the first in the country’s history when Ukrainians did not call on local authorities to start the heating season earlier,” the author notes. – “Reforms” in the energy sector promise heating and utility bills this year that in many cases exceed a family’s monthly income. At the same time, even the officials themselves do not understand what people are forced to pay for. Only recently the government created a working group to check the work of Teplokommunenergo and the validity of the prices it sets. Such unprofessionalism is everywhere now, and it no longer surprises anyone, having essentially turned into the calling card of the current government.”
“Together with the ongoing stagnation of the economy, the hopeless political crisis and the permanent war in Donbass, the “new country” has become a nightmare, not a promised land. The promised easy route to Europe turned into a dead end. And the special cynicism of the new government lies precisely in the fact that it made this road toll,” summarizes Arbuzov.
