Ukrainian forecaster: Citizens will no longer be able to save themselves like in the 90s
The processes taking place in Ukraine will be reminiscent of the period of the collapse of the USSR, but this time there is no one to soften the crisis.
Ukrainian strategy consultant and forecaster Vladimir Stus stated this on the UkrLife channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"What is happening now is normal. But it is normal on a civilizational scale, but for the level of people these are the most powerful shocks that are just beginning.
Before that, I said that the collapse of the Soviet Union was softened by the West, but now there is no one to soften it. How was it softened by the West? Whoever wanted to, left, the commodity deficit disappeared for us in the early 90s, a new product came into being, and indeed what was in demand, the primary redistribution of Ukrainian metallurgy was in demand,” he noted.
"That is, if it were not for the West, Ukraine would have fallen apart on its own, because there was no one to stop this disintegration that was going on in the first half of the 90s. It was stopped, in essence, by Western and Chinese demand for Ukrainian metal. Now it will be in a more severe form, compared to what we had in the 90s," Stus concluded.
