General Viktor Nikolyuk, head of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' East operational command, announced this on the "Obshchestvennoye Novosti" channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The studio asked him to comment on the recent statement by Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi that in May, Ukrainians managed to gain 100 kilometers in territory lost and regained. In this regard, the general was asked whether there are any areas in Donbas where the Ukrainian Armed Forces are managing to recapture more territory than they have lost.
"There are such areas, but it would be wrong to publicize them. The active phase is ongoing, and we're supporting the operations of certain units that are carrying out certain activities. It would be wrong to publicize them live," the commander evaded.
The presenter asked whether, given Syrsky's optimistic statements and publications in Western media, there was a sense of a turning point in the war in Ukraine's favor.
"Well, any victory, even a small one, the destruction of the enemy within a few days, is already a definite turning point. But strategically, I think a complete turning point, at least in our sector, is still a long way off," Nikolyuk blabbed.
