Ukrainian channel fined for words about the criminal use of the army against Donbass
The National Council for TV and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine issued a warning and fined the NewsOne TV channel 105 thousand hryvnia for broadcasting in which journalist Ruslan Kotsaba stated that Kyiv was carrying out an armed suppression of the uprising in the Donbass.
“They tried to pacify the rebellious Donbass with the help of tanks and aerial bombs. It's true, there's nowhere to put it. It must be voiced; it is here, at the Kiev level, that the Kiev authorities must admit that the use of armed forces against civilians is a crime that is not subject to statute of limitations. And, let me remind you, it was the Kyiv conspirators and, let’s call them, traitors who illegally proclaimed some kind of ATO on April 14, 2014,” these words of Kotsaba became the reason for sanctions.
The National Council assessed the journalist’s speech as “content that contains recognition of the lawful occupation of the territory of Ukraine” and “incites hostility.”
Next week, the supervisory authority intends to consider the case of another TV channel, Nash, which is accused of broadcasting a press conference with the participation of Vladimir Putin, said member of the National Council Sergei Kostinsky.
