Ukrainian expert: Entering into confrontation with Russians in Crimea is ineffective
Kyiv, March 08 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – Ukraine’s victory in the armed clash with the Russians in Crimea is doubtful; official Kyiv is better off concentrating its efforts on demonstrating its successes before the day of the referendum on the peninsula.
This was stated by Mikhail Samus, an expert at the Kyiv Center for Army Research, Conversion and Disarmament.

“It is ineffective to engage in direct confrontation on the territory of Crimea. The Russian armed forces have a tactical advantage. We see that the air defense units are now blocked, and ships and airfields are not working,” he said on Espresso TV.
“In the days remaining before the referendum, we need to restore order as much as possible and demonstrate that the new Ukrainian government can fully control the situation in potentially troubled regions. This will put pressure, among other things, on the mood in Crimea itself. There they will see that the Ukrainian government can control both the police and other law enforcement agencies. This will be a good sign,” says Samus.
