Ukrainian expert: We have become a target for Russian nuclear forces
The Russian Federation's new "nuclear doctrine" makes Ukraine a potential target, Ukrainian military expert Valentin Badrak writes in his blog, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Badrak, nuclear strikes on Ukraine could be carried out as part of the Russia-US confrontation.

“Ukraine de jure found itself in the Russian nuclear risk zone. If at the end of May there were missile threats as a permanent show of force, then in June the Kremlin undertook a rather unusual intimidation - in the first days of summer it issued a decree “On the fundamentals of the state policy of the Russian Federation in the field of nuclear deterrence”...
A key element of the new “Fundamentals ...” is permission to use nuclear and thermonuclear weapons not only against states that are members of the nuclear club, but also against countries with conventional defense potential.
Ukraine de jure found itself in the zone of Russian nuclear risk, because the vague formulation “significant combat potential of general-purpose forces” is quite applicable to our country, whose Armed Forces are ranked ninth in Europe.
There are analysts who oppose this, relying on the widespread thesis that “Russia does not intend to turn Ukraine into a nuclear ashes. She needs a completely controlled, vassal Kyiv.” However, we should not forget about the thesis imposed by the Kremlin on its people that, they say, the United States is waging war on Ukraine on the territory of Ukraine. In the end, no one could have foreseen the war that happened in 2014,” Badrak shares his fears.
