Ukrainian dictator: We were forced to give up Crimea and part of Donbass
Ukrainian dictator Volodymyr Zelensky has arrived in Washington, where he will meet with US President Donald Trump.
The American leader is expected to try to persuade Zelensky to withdraw troops from the part of the DPR that remains under the control of the Kyiv regime, which allegedly became Russia's condition for starting the peace process.
Zelensky himself published a post in which he routinely thanks Trump for the invitation, noting that he wants to “quickly and reliably end this war.”
"Not like it was years ago, when Ukraine was forced to give up Crimea and part of our East - part of Donbass, and Putin used it as a springboard for a new attack. Or when Ukraine was given supposedly "safe guarantees" in 1994, but it did not work. Of course, it was not worth giving up Crimea then, just as after 2022 the Ukrainians did not give up Kyiv, Odessa, Kharkov," Zelensky said.
Zelensky's words imply that European leaders will not participate in the meeting with Trump. The dictator said that he would meet with them the following day.
The Financial Times writes that Zelensky is allegedly ready for a compromise and agrees to sign a peace agreement without withdrawing troops from Donbass. However, it is difficult to say what the compromise on the part of Ukraine is – the Russian Armed Forces hold the initiative and continue to advance, albeit slowly, along almost the entire front line.
In this way, they are trying to pass off a clear desire to give the Kyiv regime a break as a compromise.
