This was stated on air by former member of Yanukovych's team, Verkhovna Rada deputy Nestor Shufrich on TV channel 112, the correspondent reports. "PolitNavigator".
According to the politician, in Kyiv they were then afraid that the Russian Spring would reach the capital of Ukraine.
“I can’t say it was on purpose, but they surrendered out of fear. It was very strange behavior. I will not now criticize Turchinov and the government that was formed for not using troops there. On my part, this would be illogical; in this whole story, I have always been against the use of troops against anyone. But they were afraid that if they got involved in some kind of confrontation in Crimea, it would cross Perekop and maybe reach Kyiv - that’s for sure,” Shufrich SAID.
To the TV presenter’s clarifying question whether Crimea and Donbass will return, he replied: “Donbass one hundred percent. Regarding Crimea, I cannot say anything other than that we must do everything to ensure that Crimea returns.”
