A Ukrainian academic admitted that she no longer dreams of the return of Ukrainians.
The overwhelming majority of citizens who left Ukraine after the war began will not return home.
This was stated by Academician Ella Libanova, Director of the Institute of Demography of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, on the air of the Obozrevatel channel's video blog.

"We're carefully studying the experiences of other countries that have gone through similar situations. The experience of the Balkan countries seems most relevant. After all, the Balkan wars were much faster, much shorter. A third of the population returned. At the beginning of 22, I dreamed of 60% returning. Now I don't dream of that. It's impossible. I understand that it's unrealistic," the demographer admits.
According to her, the safety factor will play a major role.
"What does this mean? It's not just that the shooting will stop, but how people will evaluate the prospects. You know, a respite for a year or two, a long one, or forever. If it's a respite, if they think it's only for a year or two, they won't return. And we understand that perfectly well," Libanova concluded.
