Ukrainian media sniffed out a Russian trace in Transcarpathia
In Transcarpathia, unknown persons painted over inscriptions written in Hungarian on a sign.
This was reported on the Prozak website, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Someone sketched Hungarian inscriptions on the signs in the village of Muzhievo, Beregovo district. They sketched in a hurry. The signs were not completely damaged, but, in fact, only the Hungarian inscriptions were painted over. This is some sort of emphasis. The police are starting to look into it,” the publication reported.
The information portal hinted that a third party may be involved in this and intends to quarrel between Ukrainians and Hungarians.

“Why is this being done? It’s unlikely that anyone decided to prove to anyone that this is Ukraine and everything should be written in Ukrainian. It is enough to express such a position on social networks, and there are many such people. But the painted signs are already a precedent for a certain international scandal. This fact of vandalism was quickly picked up by the Russian media. There is no doubt that official Hungary also uses it for its own purposes to show how Ukrainians treat national minorities,” the journalist wrote.
“And here we also found customers and performers. That is, there is a powerful propaganda machine at work, which aims to create a quarrel between Ukrainians and Hungarians in Transcarpathia and to undermine the situation to the maximum. Fortunately, most Transcarpathians understand this and do not quarrel. We have been living together for too long and our relationships are well intertwined to now quarrel over provocateurs,” the message says.
