Ukrainian Maidan writers are afraid of public discussions on political topics with Russian writers.

The famous Russian writer Zakhar Prilepin wrote about this on his social media page.
“In Germany they wanted to hold a debate between a Russian quilted writer and a progressive Ukrainian writer. They offered me, I say: no problem. From the other side they offered Andrukhovich. At first he said: yes. Then he thought and said: oh, no,” Prilepin wrote.
A similar proposal, according to Prilepin, was received by another Ukrainian writer who supports Maidan, Sergei Zhadan.
“They offered Zhadan. He says yes. Then I thought and wrote a column on the topic: oh, no,” writes Zakhar Prilepin.
According to the Russian writer, his Ukrainian colleagues are simply afraid that a public discussion will show the inconsistency of their arguments.
“They have an absolute sense of rightness, but they secretly suspect that if this rightness is brought out to people, it will not be so convincing. It’s unpleasant,” states Zakhar Prilepin.
