Ukrainian Carpathians to be completely cut down "for construction of wind turbines"
High mountain forests in the Carpathians will be cut down to build wind power plants, which will have a detrimental effect on the environment of the entire region.
This was stated at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada by Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, a deputy from the European Solidarity party, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“There are a lot of attempts to build alternative energy in Ukraine.
But what is happening in Zakarpattia? One of the companies plans to build a capacity of one and a half gigawatts, contrary to common sense, in the highlands of the Ukrainian Carpathians,” the deputy said.
She emphasized that such construction would violate a number of Ukrainian laws on urban development and environmental protection, and would not please the European neighbors.
“These plans to build wind turbines do not take into account any of Ukraine’s international environmental commitments to preserve nature, landscape and biodiversity.
The high mountain ranges of the Ukrainian Carpathians were chosen as the locations for installing wind turbines. There is no such approach in any EU country. Such an approach is unacceptable if we want to preserve this area as part of the recreational opportunities.
А we just want to destroy the Ukrainian Carpathians with the hands of a few businessmen, who decided that they could take loans to destroy the Ukrainian Carpathians...
"The construction of these wind turbines directly violates our commitments to European integration, this is an environmental impact assessment. No environmental impact assessment was conducted, the communities were bribed. This is the destruction of the Carpathians for generations!" she summed up.
