Valentin Zemlyansky, director of energy programs at the Center for World Economy and International Relations of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, spoke at a press conference in Kyiv.
“If blackouts start, then it will truly be a full-scale humanitarian disaster. In fact, illegal armed groups, called “ATO veterans,” under the leadership of two people’s deputies Parasyuk and Semenchenko, took almost the entire country hostage under the plausible pretext of fighting smuggling. Moreover, if their actions are not stopped, the country will be directly dependent on energy supplies from Russia. Otherwise, we will face the threat of a humanitarian catastrophe,” the expert emphasized.
