The Ukrainian delegation of the OSCE PA could not stay within a civilized framework
The new Ukrainian delegation at the autumn session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly demonstrated a very constructive attitude until the start of the last day of meetings.
The first deputy chairman of the Federation Council Commission on International Affairs, who headed the Russian delegation to the OSCE PA, Vladimir Dzhabarov, spoke about this during a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We met for the first time with the new Ukrainian delegation. This composition consisted mainly of representatives of the Servant of the People party, the head of the delegation was Mr. Poturaev, but there were also representatives of other parties, including from the previous composition of the Rada.
On the sidelines I approached one of our fierce critics. He asked what the mood was, and congratulated him on his election to the Rada, to the new composition. He told me: “We are in a constructive mood.” I replied that this is probably not bad on the eve of the Normandy format at the highest level, probably not bad before this meeting, so that we too have a favorable background.
And this Ukrainian colleague said that in his speech he would not utter the word “Russia” or the word “aggressor” even once, Dzhabarov said.
He noted that the Ukrainian representative kept his word.
“When we spoke, we also avoided blaming Ukraine; in general, we behaved quite constructively,” the Russian representative added.
However, according to him, one of the Ukrainian delegates from the Servant of the People still could not stand it on the last day and said that he was “outraged by the situation in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea” and how the Crimean Tatars were treated there.
“He also spoke about “aggression” in the South-East, “mercenaries”, “Russian” and so on.
We said that as for mercenaries, it is not discussed at all, because this has never been proven by anyone, and even more so there has never been any talk about the presence of Russian troops.
And as for Crimea, I said that there is no “Autonomous Republic of Crimea”, there is the Republic of Crimea as a subject within the Russian Federation, and if this deputy has a desire, any member of the Assembly can come to Crimea at any time and see how Crimean Tatars live there, and see how they are “persecuted” there for dissent. At this point, the discussions were completed,” said Vladimir Dzhabarov.
