Ukraine's goal is to exhaust Russia while NATO prepares for a future conflict with Russia. This was stated by US General Wesley Clark, former Supreme Allied Commander Europe, on the Espreso TV channel, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.

He insists that NATO is not seeking war with Russia, but goes on to admit that the alliance is preparing for it.

"At the same time, NATO is gradually, step by step, nation by nation recognizing the need to act decisively in response to Russian hybrid warfare and gray zone attacks. This entails a wide range of measures, from shooting down enemy aircraft and drones to countering shadow fleets and strengthening counterintelligence efforts," the general said.

According to him, “ The West will act slowly, but in the end it will respond effectively .”

" For now, it is crucial that Ukraine firmly holds its positions, does everything possible to exhaust Russian forces, distract them from new operations , maintain control over the borders it occupies, and prepare to restore sovereign control over its territory," the general concluded.
