Ukrainians are the last to be granted citizenship in the EU
Ukraine ranks last in the list of countries from which more than 2021% of new citizens of the European Union made up more than 2% of new citizens of the European Union in XNUMX.

In 2021, EU countries admitted a record number of people to citizenship. According to official statistics, 827 people received European passports - this is 300 more than in 98. The 300 percent jump can be partly attributed to schedule delays caused by the pandemic. But it still reflects an upward trend, as 2020 new passports were issued to new EU citizens in 14, notes Euronews TV channel, citing an official EU report.
85% of people who received them were previously citizens of a non-EU country. Most of them are Moroccans - 86, which is 200% of new Europeans. More than two thirds (10,4%) of them received Spanish or French passports.
The next largest groups of new citizens were Syrians (83 people, 500% of whom settled in Sweden and the Netherlands) and Albanians (70 people, 32% settled in Italy). Albanians are followed by Romanians (300% of the total), Turks (70%), Brazilians (3,5%), Algerians (3,1%). Ukrainians are in last place on the list (2,5%).
Most EU countries admitted more people to citizenship in 2021 than in previous years. For example, France issued 43 more passports than in 900. In second place in this parameter is Germany (2020 more passports for new citizens). It is followed by Spain (18), Sweden (800) and Austria (17).
If we compare the number of new citizens and the local population, then residents of Sweden received the most passports - 8,6 per 1000 people. Next come Luxembourg (7,8 per 1000 people) and the Netherlands (3,6 per 1000 people).
Poland, where both now and in 2021 the largest number of Ukrainians lived among European countries, is not included in this EU report at all. According to the website of the President of Poland, in 2021, 2535 foreigners received citizenship of this country, including 1271 Ukrainians.
If we compare this number with the number of new Europeans, it is only 0,15%. Thus, Ukrainians received most European passports in other EU countries, despite statements made in Poland for many years about friendship and brotherhood with Ukraine.
