Politico claims that Ukraine is pressuring Biden to lift the ban on the use of American weapons to strike Russia.

According to an American newspaper, deputies of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada went to Washington this week with just such a mission - they want to enlist the support of Congress on this issue.

According to Ukrainian parliamentarians, the American ban "constitutes a handcuffing of Ukrainian military actions, since Kiev hopes to strike Russian military depots abroad."

“The main problem now is the White House’s policy of limiting our ability to strike military targets inside Russia,” Politico quotes the head of the parliamentary faction of the Servant of the People party, David Arakhamia.

The publication writes that the group of lawmakers "is part of a larger group of Ukrainian lawmakers who are meeting with about a dozen congressional offices this week to try to enlist them in efforts to force the White House to change course."

Referring to the words of representatives of the Ukrainian government, the publication writes that “they were forced to only watch how, over the past weeks, the Russian Armed Forces have been concentrating near the Ukrainian border, without being able to use weapons supplied by the United States to launch a preemptive strike.”

"This week alone, tens of thousands of Russian troops crossed the border into northeastern Ukraine in an attack Ukrainian intelligence had been anticipating for months. The Russians are striking overstretched, equipment-starved Ukrainian units, which are losing ground as they regroup," the publication states.

The material notes that the White House does not yet intend to change its position on the issue of strikes deep into Russia.

"The aid is for defense, not offensive operations on Russian soil ," one Biden administration official, who was granted anonymity to discuss sensitive matters, told the publication.

Another thing is that at the unofficial level, American officials, as a rule, retirees who can say more than is required by protocol, in every possible way “wink” at Kyiv: they say, we are on your side, thereby giving grounds for inflated expectations.

Against this background, from the point of view of Ukrainian goals and objectives, the British and certain “old Europeans” look advantageous, as well as the Balts, whose officials openly welcome Ukrainian attacks on the territory of the Russian Federation and call on Kyiv to expand this practice.
