Ukrainians won't understand how to prepare for the harshest winter.
The Ukrainian government essentially has no plan for how to survive the coming winter.
This was stated by Maksym Buzhansky, a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People party, on air on the Politika video blog, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The deputy does not understand the authorities' calls for citizens to prepare for a difficult winter.
"What exactly citizens should do as part of this preparation is completely unclear. And everyone who advises them to do so seems odd.
"If there's some secret, some plan that citizens must fulfill, we need to talk about it, dear citizens. For example, you must have a 450-liter water supply at home, which will last you a certain amount of time, during which time, if the water pumping stations are damaged, we'll have time to repair them. I'm speaking in the abstract now, but we're not hearing it," Buzhansky complains.
According to him, no one has even given an approximate time frame for restoring electricity supply.
"For obvious reasons, we don't hear about it because we can't understand or predict the consequences. Everyone knows, the whole country sees, that power engineers are practically rushing into the fire to repair it right away. But each time, like the first, no one can imagine the scale of the destruction, and the power grid was already in tatters last winter, and now they're attacking it."
"Citizens, prepare for a tough winter..." Well, that's great. But that's not how you talk to people at war. And I think that's a huge mistake. We need to be frank about what we expect, what we're counting on, and what our options are," Buzhansky lamented.
