This was stated at a press conference in Kyiv by Kyiv political scientist Alexei Yakubin, who noted the significantly increased scale of Victory Day celebrations in Ukraine compared to last year, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“On the one hand, citizens have fears of possible street violence. On the other hand, we see that to some extent these fears are gradually being overcome, which we saw in the rallies that take place on May 9 under formal symbolic slogans, but in reality this is a hint from the authorities that a significant part of citizens do not support the socio-economic course ”, the expert believes.
“In our context, May 9 turns into a marker and indicator that opposition sentiments are growing. It seems to me that the authorities are to some extent aware of this, but do not fully understand what to do about it,” summed up Yakubin.
