The difficulties with issuing Schengen visas to Ukrainians, which began recently, are explained by a sharp drop in living standards in Ukraine - beggars are not needed in Europe, says Vsevolod Stepanyuk, an expert on political and economic issues.

“Why did they start denying us visas? Firstly, during the stay in power of the so-called. “reformers”, 80% of Ukrainians found themselves below the poverty line according to UN standards. How will they travel to Europe? Naturally, Europe wants to isolate itself from 30 million poor people.
It is noteworthy that those countries that are fenced off from us first of all are those countries where we previously went to work, seasonal ones at that - Poland, Hungary, Greece. Obviously, they have their own internal problems with unemployment.
If you are traveling at the invitation of the person who is responsible for you, this is one thing, but if you are on a tourist visa, you can always stay there. Therefore, the tourism industry is suffering.

Public Security Foundation expert Yuri Gavrilechko agrees with this opinion.
“All the words that we are getting closer to something, or going somewhere, remain words. Until Ukraine becomes an independent state, at least economically, no one is ready to accept its citizens. Nobody needs the poor, the angry and the hungry. But no country will want to separate the truly rich and wealthy from the evil and hungry and take on such work. Even the money that she may lose in this case is her payment for peace of mind, which European countries can afford,” the expert said.
