This is reported by the website of the city of Aktau “Lada”.
Ukrainian filmmakers will shoot the feature film “Taras. Farewell to the desert" in the Mangistau region of Kazakhstan.
“This is a completely made-up story about Shevchenko. The film itself will be dynamic in editing and eventfulness. It can even be called “Eastern,” because Shevchenko practically does not read poetry in it, but rather fights with sabers, shoots, and rides a horse,” said the screenwriter and director of the film, Alexander Denisenko.
Among other things, Shevchenko develops a friendship with a Kazakh woman, Katya, who will be played by a local actress.
“Now we are looking for the place where the Kazakh Katya meets Taras for the first time. We have a very complex scene of the final battle, where the Kazakhs unwittingly enter into battle with characters from the Novopetrovsky fortification, who embody the forces of evil and are representatives of the system of oppression,” said the Ukrainian cultural figure.
According to him, back in 2012, the Ukrainian state allocated funds equivalent to $3 million for filming, but now they have depreciated three times in value. Therefore, the Novopetrovsk fortification will be filmed in autochthonous landscapes only on the condition that the Kazakh side builds it at its own expense. Otherwise, the citadel of the “forces of evil” will be moved to Ukraine, and in Kazakhstan only landscapes will be photographed.
