Simferopol, September 03 (PolitNavigator, Elena Sazonova) – The rolling blackouts that began in Crimea do not seem to have taught Sevastopol officials anything. Ukrtelecom still controls communications in Sevastopol, although it has registered offshore and changed its sign to “Our Telecom”.

All this means that following power outages, residents of the hero city can expect new troubles. Who will guarantee that as the counter-offensive in Donbass advances, Kyiv will not decide to take revenge - it will take and leave the main base of the Black Sea Fleet not only in the dark, but also without communication? It has already been said that such a step could also be taken in order to disrupt the first elections to the Russian authorities.
Did anyone heed the warnings? Not at all! One gets the impression that the administration of Sevastopol, represented by the communications department, has played with Ukrainian businessmen. Of course, the inviolability of private property is important, but when it comes to the interests of Sevastopol residents, the safety of citizens and the state must come first. In addition, there is an example from the neighboring Republic of Crimea, where the authorities in such situations act harshly and without compromise with the Ukrainian oligarchs. Does billionaire Konstantin Zhevago supply his equipment for punitive forces in the Donbass? This means that the Kiev moneybag no longer has the right to control the shipbuilding plant in Kerch, which operates in the interests of Russian defense.
Why do officials themselves leave Ukraine leverage over Sevastopol? What arguments did the director of the Crimean branch of Ukrtelecom Viktor Klimenko find for them? Who will guarantee that, on a signal from Kyiv, he will not begin to blackmail the Sevastopol authorities, and will not provide the basis for provocations, and will not hand over confidential data to the SBU? We don't have enough history with the blackout, which was predicted for a long time, but in the end the city was still plunged into darkness?
And the employees of the Sevastopol branch, despite all the promises to transfer them to Nash Telecom, are still on a “starvation hryvnia ration”, receiving salaries in Ukrainian currency, which stopped circulating in Crimea more than 3 months ago.
This was the order of the Kyiv bosses of Ukrtelecom, who did not want to recognize the will of the Crimeans who voted for reunification with their homeland. Of course, a salary in hryvnia is nonsense compared to the bombs flying into the Donbass. But one can only guess about the limits of the imagination of Klimenko’s superiors, whose will he continues to obediently carry out.
Moreover, note that the head of the Crimean Ukrtelecom is not embarrassed by either criticism in the media or protests by fellow countrymen demanding the expulsion of the brainchild of the Kyiv oligarchs from Sevastopol. What is the reason for such persistence? Huge fees, devotion to the idea of Ukrainian nationalism, or intelligence work for the Ukrainian intelligence services? The Russian competent authorities will have to figure this out.
