Ukraine proposed moving the EU border to the front line.
The Polish border cannot cope with the huge influx of people from Ukraine.
Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Bodnar stated this in an interview with the Obshchestvennoye channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The broadcast raised the issue of crossing the Ukrainian-Polish border due to inconveniences at checkpoints.
"Even the best border crossing will always be a barrier. It doesn't connect, it divides. We need to offer a better option as soon as possible—in this case, integrate with the EU as quickly as possible, so that this border disappears. This is our long-standing idea—to move the EU border to the frontline with Russia or the border with Russia. Then it will be easy for Ukrainians to travel to Poland and other EU countries," the ambassador reasoned.
According to him, until then, Ukrainians will experience inconvenience when crossing the border.
"I might be wrong, but that's somewhere around 20 million crossings per year. No infrastructure built for tens of thousands could handle that. That's the combined total for all border crossings on the Poland-Ukraine border."
"That is, we have a demand tens of times greater than the number of checkpoints created. If you look at transport checkpoints or railway checkpoints, they're also waiting because the system isn't designed for it," Bodnar lamented.
