There will be no US funding for Ukraine until the border issue with Mexico is resolved.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson told reporters this after a meeting with US President Joe Biden, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Johnson, in addition, congressmen need answers from Ukraine regarding the future strategy and ultimate goals of the war.
“We understand that there are concerns about the security and sovereignty of Ukraine, but the American people have the same concerns about our own domestic sovereignty and our security,” the politician said.
“We understand the importance of what is needed, but when I met with President Zelensky last month, just before Christmas, he said that the necessary ingredient is the weapons systems that they need. There are certain things that are necessary for them to gain the upper hand.
We need answers to questions about strategy, about the end game, and about responsibility for the precious asset of the American people. All these things are important, but we must insist that the border is a top priority,” Johnson said.
