Even under Yushchenko, Ukraine began to get into debt and has now become so dependent on debt that international financial structures can already dictate its domestic and foreign policy.

Viktor Suslov, former Minister of Economy of Ukraine, announced this on the ZIK TV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“After gaining independence, Ukraine had no public debt. Russia assumed the debt of the USSR and it paid it off. Therefore, we did not need loans in order to repay any debts. And at the beginning, cooperation programs with the IMF were indeed limited mainly to the receipt of relatively small amounts that actually replenished foreign exchange reserves and were used to maintain the exchange rate of the national currency.

But it always seems tempting to live on credit. All this accelerated under Yushchenko, when massive borrowing began both from the IMF and from private creditors. Our external debt began to grow catastrophically. It seemed to some then that a heyday had almost begun, but Ukraine largely lived at the expense of others. During Yushchenko's presidency, foreign debt increased by more than $70 billion. Obviously, the wrong course was chosen.

This course was dictated from the West - President Yushchenko was the first politician in Ukraine who openly represented the interests of the West. The task of (financial) organizations is to impose loans on underdeveloped countries, and then dictate their foreign and domestic policies.

The problem now is not even that we are discussing the land market, the problem is that we are not even saying that Ukraine needs it. Pay attention to President Zelensky’s statement on the eve of the vote - he said: “we are forced to accept this because the IMF requires this from us, without this there will be no loans, without this there will be a default.

That is, he actually admitted that Ukraine had ceased to be a sovereign state. Our domestic policy is dictated to us from the outside,” summed up Viktor Suslov.
