Ukraine found itself between tragedy and catastrophe - Maidan political scientist
After Maidan, Ukraine came to the edge of a deep abyss, and the country’s citizens were confused and helpless.
Kiev political scientist Viktor Nebozhenko comes to this conclusion on his Facebook page.
“After the magnificent, courageous and honest Maidan 2014, a powerful surge of hopes for the future and mass enthusiasm, by 2018 Ukraine, unexpectedly for itself, found itself on the edge of a deep abyss. During these few unhappy years, the country suddenly found itself between tragedy and catastrophe. A rare case in the history of Europe. The paradoxical state of the whole country, which has been going on for several years. We are “Frozen Ukraine,” writes Nebozhenko.
According to him, Ukraine cannot move forward, since the oligarchic government is fiercely and successfully resisting this, drawing the last juice out of Ukraine.

The political scientist also outlined three problems that the country faces today.
"1. The authorities are confident that the population of Ukraine is weak, helpless and that anything can be done with them. From being plunged into poverty to constant monstrous lies, manipulation and deprivation of the future of entire generations. In a frozen state, you can do whatever you want with Ukraine.
2. This is really true. We are weak, helpless and confused. The everlasting past, which comes to us in different guises, has replaced us with a living, dynamic modernity and a strong future. This is not stagnation, but the tragedy of an entire country that does not feel alive.
3. Changes in the country will occur unexpectedly for both the ruling authorities and the population of Ukraine. But all this brings not only new chances for Ukraine, but also new dangerous problems that it has not encountered before,” summarizes Nebozhenko.
